Russian warship - Ukrainian stamp
As you may have noticed, the soldier in this picture is not using all of his right hand fingers to wave at the ship.
Why?
You may have read the story in many newspapers and on the internet about the Snake Island incident earlier this year.
When a Russian mother ship approached a small Black Sea outpost in Ukraine called Snake Island, it demanded its Ukrainian defenders surrender or die. One of the Ukrainian soldiers used very expletive and straight to the point language in his reply back to the ship.
The heroic incident has been memorialized in a special edition Ukrainian postage stamp which you see on this card.
